So after reading a little bit and diagnosing some problems with my 325ci such as a super jerky shift between 1st and 2nd and it sometimes taking longer than usual to start from the ignition. I'm pretty sure there is a problem with my fuel pump and that it is dying. Unfortunately from what I've read the SULEV keeps the fuel pump inside the tank itself so it requires a complete replacement of the thing. The threads i've been reading are quite a few years old though. Also my car is outside of warranty mile range
So I'm wondering, has there been any updates on a cheap fix for this or has price gone down and it's no only $7,000 for a replacement? if not then im very sad lol
Have you actually checked fuel pressure and confirmed its the pump?
There are no cheap fixes for the SULEV cars. I just recently swapped everything out of one in exchange for regular 330 parts.(engine, fuel tank, etc). Buying the parts car and hiring me to do the job was still cheaper then the replacement tank...lol

Take it to the shop and have it dx. I have yet to replace a sulev fuel pump/gas tank assy
Nah I haven't checked the pressure yet, but isn't the only way I can check that on the SULEV is by being inside the fuel tank because of the way it was made?
Yeah I heard some guy was wanting to retrofit a m54 pump, but there was never anymore info after that so I have no idea if it worked/works. I'm totally down to do it as a last resort, but yeah just going in with some prior info would be nice lmao.
By this you mean down-trading the car? I supposed that's one solution to the problem LOL, but I'll have to pass.
Dx = diagnosed.
I read that BMW extended the warranty period to 15 years/150,000 miles for SULEV vehicles. Is that true? Probably applies to original owner.

Price went up. It's 10k for a tank now. Unless you buy one used from someone parting out an m56.
If I were to give my Touring a first name, I'd probably name it "Alan".
Mostly because I like puns.
