driver:
404 folding not found
404 power adjusting not found
windows work properly
passenger: adjusts properly, doesn't fold - passenger m5 module (#6 904 247) is installed
do I suspect the switch (used #6 904 339, ebay: bimmermotorworldllc (4247) 99.9% positive feedback)
or the mirror (new ebay: bavarian_motorwerks (3041) 100% positive feedback) ?
Or is there a coding step I'm skipping?

No coding is required.
Yeah there's actually an option in the GM coding but it doesn't seem to do anything or be required for M5 mirrors. Maybe there was another version of folding mirrors somewhere or something.

In the M5 you could code the mirrors to fold up when you shut the car off and back down when it was started.
Argh.
I'll pull apart and triple check the connections I guess.
I didn't need to code anything to get mine working(I do have mine setup to fold by the key), just install mirrors, driver's switch and passenger's module.
You can test the mirror folding motor by applying 12v to the blue and white wires(may be different on 3rd party mirrors so verify). You can also check if the passenger module is outputting volt when fold is active(I don't recall the pin numbers but assuming they're wired correctly you can figure that out when testing motor-i do remember it's one of the corner pins and the pin next to it).

I'm a tool - installed in a hurry = doesn't work.
They work great now that I've carefully checked all the connections
Going to send my modlight in for an update and then I hope they'll fold/unfold reliably with the keyfob.

Where did you purchase these mirrors from, was a private party selling them or a website? Kinda look at doing this upgrade also.

I have those aftermarket mirrors (probably from the same supplier as yours) and the OE modules to have them both fold. Never needed coding. They work perfectly fine.
I have a set of oem M5 mirrors that flip up fine, but when you unflip them, the passenger side mirror has a stripped gear that unflips it almost halfway and then it starts clicking.. I have not looked at it yet, but does anyone know if it can be fixed, or replaced?

Ooh, that reminds me... Mine don't fold in sync. Drivers starts and finished first. Thoughts?

It sounds like one of the many gear kits you can find online will take care of that issue.
Neither do mine, not only do they not start at the same time but the don't go the same speed. It's all so close that unless you're actually watching you can't tell, since I have mine set for key in/out and key out seems to take a sec or so to trigger I'm usually getting or already out so I don't really notice.

I don't think our older models natively support the key in/out (only key fob button presses) as well as AE as DLR and minimum blinker count.
I use an Intravee II for the above as well as some other things like welcome home lights on arm instead of having to hit pass lights. They're a bit pricey still even for used ones but worth it to me since I normally on care about folding my mirrors while in my garage so I don't arm the alarm and often forget to hit the button, the blinker thing is great for lane changes (just tap it up/down), I didn't have to do any custom wire for some thing, plus it displays a bunch of extra info related to the car (I don't use any of it's audio integration features).
