    E39 Center Bore

    Hi all,

I picked up a set of one-piece style 5's. From what I understand, they did make a few of these for the E39 (with the 74.1mm bore). The previous seller mentioned that they came from a E39 530i.
I've already put two on my car -- however, the center seemed to go on a little snug.
If these style 5's had the 72.5 mm centerbore, would they even fit at all? Or would it be a "snug" fit?

The bolts seemed to tighten up fine, but If I've accidentally "squeezed" the rims on, I don't want to put undo stress and have a wheel come flying off at speed.

Is there a sure fire way to tell? Markings on the rim? Does measuring the bore with a ruler provide an accurate result?

    One piece style 5 were 16" e38 basketweave with 72.56 CB, 2 piece 17" e39 style 5 were 74.1 CB. No, 72.56 won't fit 74.1 hub. More official name for e39 style 5 is RC090.

These are one piece 16" rims.

I was under the impression that there is a rather elusive 16x7 E39 Style 5 one-piece, but concrete evidence on the internet is few and far between.
The style 5 for the E38 is 16x8, and for the E34 it is 16x7.5.

This thread is the one in question.

Was my seller incorrect, that these did *not* come from an E39?

If it is indeed the 72.5 CB -- would it even be mountable on the E39?
I have two of the rims on -- they seemed to go on okay, but seemed to be "tight", if that makes sense. The wheels had some corrosion on the back, so I sort of chalked it up to that.

So, likely that the seller had no idea what they were talking about, and this is indeed an E38 or an E34 rim.
Is it possible to wedge a 72.5 CB rim onto our larger bore?

    Pics attached.

EDIT: So, this site seems to confirm the existence of a one-piece E39 Style 5. I guess I just need to go out and measure the CB and try to get an accurate reading, or confirm if it is a 16x8 or a 16x7. Too bad the car is across town right now.

EDIT x2: So, the markings on the rim (zoomed in on the pictures), indicate that it is a 20mm offset (IS20), and they are 225R16 wheels, which would indicate the 7" rim.
