Nah, all kinds of functions are in that fuse panel. It's right under the front passenger footwell.

It can come in from the rear vapor barriers and cause havoc, I rarely see broken front seals.

Sorry to have not responded sooner..it's under the front passenger's seat...his car had taken on a lot of water. It did not affect the passenger seat.

Vein, I'm sorry to hear that didn't clear up your problem. The only other suggestion I have is the K72 relay...Here's the thread about my friend's 525T..

Funny but I still have this same unresolved issue in my car. I'm tempted to pull the carpet up anyway and just have a look to see what's going on. Mine actually throws codes for steering wheel motor jammed, but I can spin them just fine.

In the original post you wrote "new fuses"...but have you gone back since you replaced those fuses to see if they are still intact? If there was a short...they could have blown again. Just a thought since it seems like everything you're trying is going no where.

Based on the chart below...it would be fuses #13 (30 amp fuse) & #21 (5 amp fuse)...for driver's seat adjustment & steering column adjustment. Check your car's fuse chart to make sure they are the same...and that the fuses you replaced are in the correct location and have the correct amperage.

    Good luck.

reviving since never figured out the problem until now So FYI tried everything from switch to fuses where its common, narrowed it down to the fuses on the passenger floor board.

Hey vien, any update on this? I'm having the same issue I think. The seat was intermittent not working and now it won't do anything at all, as well as the wheel tilt. I've been out of the country and its basically just sat at my parents not getting used much. This past summer during one of the hurricanes that came through NC they said water got inside and was in the floor board. After reading above about the wiring thats under the passenger seat I think that might be the issue. Do you have to remove the passenger seat to get to the wiring over there? I never thought moving the seat and wheel could be so intricate!

My car did this thing you're describing when fuse #13 was out. It looked fine but it was out. Have you tried replacing it just because and see if things works?

Knock, knock Vien. What up? Got yours fixed?

No, just unbolt it from the floor and tip it backwards.
You'll need to remove the kick panel and the door sill to get the carpet pulled up.
The fuse box is just ahead of the right seat track.

    Hey Vien

Ive had the same problem for so long. its been years since ive attempted to fix it. my e34 540i has been sitting for a while ive only recently been rebuilding it. But this problem no one seems to know how to fix it. My seats and my steering wheel will not adjust and my mirrors will not adjust either. its very frustrating. what i did was i put the fuse in that controls the seat and at the same time i had my hand on the seat adjuster and moved the seat so i could fit in the car and then pulled the fuse out so it would not move back into the foward position. thats literally how i have been driving the car. since then the fuse has never been put back in so that when i start the car it does not go back to factory position. that was over 8 years ago. i had this car since i was 15 and it did this when i was 18 or 19 im 27 now and i really want to fix this problem. If anyone has a solution please do share. i will mess with my car later and see what i can do.

Heey guys, I know there's a long time since this thread came out, but I have one similar unsolved problem, and I have no idea what is going on. So, the steering wheel is not moving, seats works fine, fuses are ok, I do have 12v on the steering wheel motors. Last time it worked was when I was trying to check if the motors works and I pressed the memory button, it was the last time. I can get it to work anymore, I searched all the internet for someone with similar problems, but I couldn't find anything.
Everything else works, mirrors, locks, seat, everything...
