Hey guys, I think I'm about to finally loose my shit with my e34 lol. I just fixed my misfire and leaks but my car is still running like crap. I have a CEL but the stomp test is just not working, and yes I've done it many times on my older e30 and a couple weeks ago on my friends e36 and it just doesn't wanna work on my e34 :/ so far ive changed all 8 coil packs, spark plugs, valve cover gasket, motor mounts, tried using the M60b30 MAF and m60b40 MAF, and two different ECU's, today changed both fuel filters and the car is still cutting power. The car cuts all power around 4-5k rpm and can not spin the back tires or any go over 110mph? What could this be, harmonic balance, CPS, fuel pump? My e34 was running like a champ 2 months ago but now its just bad... Also I was driving back on the highway last night and around 110 in 5th gear the car just cut power and its also catless and made a weird loud unusual bang if that's any help lol.
Bad throttle position sensor will disable the stomp test.
try harmonic balancer, mine cut out around that rpm due to a high vibing HB.
On my own M60, a bad crank sensor made the engine feel like it was bouncing off a low RPM (3.5K-4Krpm) rev limiter. Changed CPS, throttle response improved and it rev's to the moon (Well, the 7200rpm limit of the chip).
update, installed new TPS and car is still cutting hard and I still can not do the stomp test? CPS or harmonic balancer?
Do your CPS.
