My underpanel is pretty well destroyed due to age and snow, looking for options. From what I've found:
OEM: Expensive, need all new hardware and bits. From trying to keep what I have intact I'm already frustrated with the OEM solution, but if there's a full kit I might be interested.
Motion Motorsports: https://www.motionmotorsport.net/col...underpanel-kit I would've already purchased, but needs to be modified for non-M's. Feedback I received from them was the issue is due to the bumper, but it's likely possible to trim it to fit. I haven't been able to find threads where people have done this. Too expensive for me to try without finding some documentation first. Would really like to make this work though.
SSI Stealth: http://www.bimmerworld.com/Body-Aero...-3-Series.html What I'm currently leaning towards.
I bought an underpanel from bf.c member Compactive. Its a one-piece made from thick ABS plastic. At the time I wanted a less expensive alternative to the OEM underpanel but didn't really feel the need for the MM aluminum version. Its been curbed a few times and has seen its fair share of road debris and its held up just fine. It was a little long and I had to trim it a bit as it hit the swaybar but other than that he pre-drills it and provides hardware. If you plan to do a lot of track time, the MM is probably the best bet.
But if you want something that serves as a quick alternative to the functionality of the factory underpanel, I'd recommend a chat with Compactive.
I don't track my car at all, so the MM is probably overboard.....but I don't want it to get destroyed by snow either so I'd like to avoid plastic. Every winter you can see even brand new cars dragging parts of their underbody/trim around.
e36 usually have an underpanel ? i just assume because you say there's an oem one ? didn't know that
i must have lost mine somewhere in that case
i once heard a bang under the car when driving home after i bought it years ago but that could've been an animal or something
I guess the more proper term for the OEM one is splash panel/guard. It's 3 pieces that are all joined together and if any get damaged they all start sagging, soon to be ripped off.
I've always heard "Undertray" however,

I replaced the OEM panelS! once and then went to two piece aluminum panel that worked for several years, but I really like the SSI Stealth: http://www.bimmerworld.com/Body-Aero...-3-Series.html

Anyone have measurments of this skid plate. Need to make one for myself. Ty
Nobody would recertify these machines after somebody screwed with them without any visibility into what they did.

I don't know about a 36 skid plate. This thread is for the Aerodynamic Undertray
Trace the outline of your bumper.

E36 skid plate
Found on late 325s and early 328s They are both for sale if anyone is interested. Best for protecting your pan on lowered cars.

I assumed the aftermarket trays went fron the bumper all the way back to maybe the under brace. My bad.
