Hello,
I recently totaled my e36 328i by hitting a guardrail to avoid a deer. The chassis is pretty much fucked, quarter panel, bumpers, head lights, tail lights, rear axle, subframe, and trailing arms. However my motor, transmission, and interior (except for driver's seat) is perfect condition I was wondering what my options would be beside buying a new car. In other words what would be my best bet to swap into 318, 325, 328, or even some e46 generation models. What would be the best chassis to get (least headaches, least effort, cheapest) way to go. And if a 328 wouldn't be available and had to swap a 325 or 323 or 318 what other parts would I need or would it be more of a plug and play type deal. Also, keep in mind the motor and tranny are automatic.
Thanks for any feedback provided!!
Easiest and least effort would of course be the same chassis it came out of or another chassis that was mass produced with the same motor such as an e39. Other candidates that arent plug and play but are fairly common and quite easy also....e30, e34, e28. Most of this info, such as details/parts list can be found with some research. A simple google search can yield library's of information.
