Do any M Coupe owners have experience with motor swaps with the LS motors? Will it fit? With a turbo will it fit? Matting a gm 6speed possibly as well.
It's long shot but figured I'd give the boosted guys a shot to see if this swap will work along with a snail.
There are some threads in the z3 section with ls/t56 swaps

Thank you, Tommy. I'll check over there...
I'm more so concerned if a large enough turbo will fit- those LS are fairly large motors, so will likely need something like 7685 system, as you know, turbo needs to be sized right to work right with motor -so my main concern is making sure there is enough room for something that big in there.
Thanks again
If you can fit it in an e30 I don't see why it wouldn't in a Z. Seems like they have way more room under the hood

With how much shorter an LS is than an s50 there will be ample room in front for a top mount on the passenger side. The only tricky part is going to be finding a place to get a downpipe through. An LS is actually extremely compact compared to most dohc v8s. The deck height is only 20mm taller than an m50 and the design of the head makes them really narrow and short.

What kind of power are you looking to make? A gen1 7675 will make about 800 whp on a 6L ls before it chokes

Thank you very much, guys! This was helpful.
I am not looking to shatter any records by any means, but yes, was looking in the 700-800rw range for power with more room to go no problem.
I was thinking a 7685 would be needed for a bigger V8 to make it work well (kinda the old saying, size it right to work right), but if I could get a 7675 to work well with the motor, that'd be great. But like you said , my main concern would be the out pipe, especially if it's 4" or something.
Any further thoughts on this?
Thank you again for the posts and the pictures, looks like they will fit no problem- just a matter of the turbo out pipe now........
No need for 85mm turbing wheel, that turbo is really only made for 76mm class limit drag racing. Just get a large AR exhaust housing. From the looks of the pictures I would mount the turbo at the front passenger side with the compressor facing toward the passenger fender and run the exhuast down behind the radiator and loop it back over the subframe on the passenger side.
