Hi, I'm new here and after some looking around I was not able to find a good answer. I have a 2007 335i coupe, 119k miles, auto with paddles. The car is burning a full quart of oil every 250 miles, not a typo, I refill with a quart every two-hundred and fifty miles. After jacking the front end up I found the underside of the car to be bone dry with the exception of one very small wet spot. Bluish/white smoke can be seen especially on cold-start and on decelleration. The car also has a burning oil smell. What could the problem be? There is no blow-by so I don't think that will be an issue. Any advice would be helpful, just bought the car and am spending a lot of money on oil...
Car has the following modifications:
- Intakes
- Beluga Catless Downpipes
Based on the startup and decel smoke, that may be valve stem seals. Check PCV system, turbo seals, and valve stem seals. It's difficult to narrow it down without opening things up. I might take a peak at the charge pipe first to see whether it's leaking into the intake or exhaust.
Thanks for the response! And if there is oil in the charge pipe, what would that point to?
I agree with surgeon but you may want to look into your crankcase vent system ( part of the valve cover ) before condemning valve seals.
also, theres always oil in the charge pipe, welcome to bmw turbocharged engines.
