Hello,
Selling my 2010 328xi and then go and get these two codes at the same time. (P0420 and P0430)
Given that this is Bank 1 and Bank 2 at the same time, could this help narrow down the fault?
If at the same time does it make the catalytic converter more or less likely?
I can't *edit to can't* see it being x2 O2 sensors at the same moment....
Thanks for your thoughts!!!

You could need both sensors. There is no programming available for E90 O2 sensor faults unless your dealing with S65 engine. If your valve cover is leaking oil onto the sensors they do fail often for this issue.
check the O2 sensor connectors for mixed up or plugged in all the way.
if your high mileage you might need sensors but even low mileage cars can fail O2 sensors on the signal or heater circuit.
Do you think its realistic or probable for both to go at the same moment though?
I should mention, it happened when my dad borrowed the car... and when he had it, he kind of bumped a curb... rashed up the rims.
I'm not saying it happened at that moment, but it was all in the span of a few hours for sure.
Wondering if bump could have disrupted connector, or sadly even affected the cat...
I doubt your dad did anything by getting some curb rash.
i also agree that it's not probable that both sensors fail together but it's possible.
N52K engines don't really have cat problems very often either unless you had a misfire for a few thousand miles but you would have noticed that for sure not to mention the check engine light.
i don't know P codes specifically I'm familiar with BMW specific codes but what is the descriptions for your codes?
Hey SlackTube,
First, thanks.
Second, the faults cleared on their own. Brought it to a garage, they said there were no codes. I checked and sure enough. Been solid for a few days now.
Phew!!
Information for Searchers...
I just put 2 and 2 together and remembered, these two codes fired a day after I had my 328xi to the BMW Dealer for the Vanos Bolts RECALL.
I am inclined to believe this issue/symptom was introduced by them... possibly bumping into things and whatnot.
It seems common that you just always have to watch your car close after a visit to a BMW Dealer.
I won't detail how many days they took to change the bolts... or their rubbish service.
