Hello, I am having a difficult time inserting the fuel nozzle into my tank, as there appears to be a silver plate which is blocking the entrance. Is there anyone who knows anything about why this is occuring..

A picture would definitely help. I do know that they make it hard to insert a diesel nozzle into a gas filler hole because the diesel nozzle is larger, but i think it's easily possible the other way around. Are you saying that the little metal flap is blocking you from inserting the nozzle, like it inverted?
there are two sizes of diesel nozzles.
Large ones for the higher speed filling of large trucks that take 100plus gallons at a time. Definitely wont fit in your car
Smaller ones for passenger cars like my old VW diesel. Should fill your car
Sometimes there's both at the same station

You'll find a lot of the larger nozzles which will not fit without using the adapter (Hint, don't). One station I've gone to has the larger nozzle on one side of the island and when I drove around to the other side I found the right size that fits. Even the right size is a tight fit. You sometimes have to rotate the nozzle to find the sweet spot before it will slide in.
