That makes sense now that you say that. Probably be easiest for me to take it to someone because I do not have a press or access to one that I know of. I'll probably ask around.
Is the M3 subframe any different then the 325s or 328s? I have a couple of those already out laying around from some part outs. make the job allot easier and efficient if I could use those and have most everything ready to just bolt in. I know the M3 ones say M on it but I don't know if they are different strength wise or anything else

Thank you for that info! Of course it couldn't be that easy!!! It was a nice thought while it lasted
328 one will bolt on right in, just use it. Difference is a vibration damper that bolts to it as far as I can tell.
I have an M3 unit in place of my 328 one and cannot see a difference. My diff is a 325 3:91 LSD and the rest is 328 parts. Just reinforce the sway tabs.

I'm just curious why didn't you use the 328 one?
Luckily I have a set of TRM coilovers I believe i'll be throwing on the car or K Sport coilovers. Haven't fully decided yet, but the TRM's suggest removing the rear sway bar....problem solved with the tabs
So the upper and lower control arm bolts or tolerances aren't any different? That would be my main concern because I hadn't seen anything visually different and sadly scrapped the one out of the last M3 I parted a while ago
I used the M3 one because it was In my parts bin, I stripped it and painted it while the car was still in service then switched it out.
Completely understand. Just wondered!
Slight update. Ordered a FX stage 2 clutch and flywheel kit today. I'll report how it is once the car is done. $385, so can't complain about that!
really wishing I had the finances to go 6 speed, but I seriously doubt i'll do much highway driving with it
I used the fx stage 2.
I came from a fancy southbend stage 5 and I'm really quite impressed with the ebay kit.
I regret not not at least checking the flywheel for balance, but overall a good product and it's so flipping cheap! The southbend disc alone was almost 3x cost of the whole fx kit.

you would recommend getting the flywheel balanced or at least have the balance checked?
i have the same clutch and fly, i never did.. 40k miles later still going strong

got the flywheel and clutch kit in. I'm pretty impressed! The only thing it's missing is the bolts for the pressure plate to flywheel, so ordered those as well.
Slowly getting somewhere
a month later and still no updates on this car as of now
no worries man... mine is taking longer than expected too... summer has been way busy for me.. but i think im dropping it in tomorrow.. then the wiring HELL starts

That sounds horrible!!!
It's about the same here after the heat index and humidity.
If only it was a dry heat here, oh well, Fall will come eventually
Subbed. I'm wanting to do this to my 95 m3 so I'll be regularly checking in for updates
sadly no update on this
John from R&I Motorsports dropped the ball and fell off the planet in regards to helping me with this swap
What help do you need? Actual physical help or information help?!
John was supposed to supply allot of the parts for it to make it allot easier, so mainly I guess just collecting everything I can before I get too deep.
I have a long block without any of the accessories or sensors or wiring so allot of the "small annoying" stuff. I also spent way too much time on my other car then I should of, so time management is also in play here
just wondering, would it be probably be easier to sell the motor I have and buy a complete one to do the swap with? I've been toying with the idea since I would have to source everything anyways
I guess long story short. I'm at a stand still with the car and the project, so I wanted to update that there is no update lol
i have a few used sensors i replaced based on i thought they were bad but werent... i can sell them cheap to you.. such as the Crank position sensor, throttle position sensor, exhaust cam position sensor..
you will want to re-use your E36 A/C bracket and compressor.. as well as the tensioner for it... you want to use the E36 power steering system, .. so you just need one S54 tensioner a water pump and thats pretty much it.. im sure i have a few other parts i wont need as well, just need to look, i have a set of stock exhaust manifolds with CATS if you need them
Andrew on R3Vlimited can do the harness... if not im sure PITT M3 can supply you with instructions... he was crucial to my swap.

Nice!!! So use the e36 power steering pump and lines? Does the bracket work as well?
Are you using the e36 alternator or the s54 alternator? I don't really have much to compare from either so that doesn't help!
yes im using my E36 bracket/pump and lines.. all mount up correctly..
you CAN use your E36 alt but i used the E46 one because it was newer and ... why not.
