3.64 in mine. I was seeing close to 7400 in 5th on the back straight at VIR.

I have 3:91 on 5mt - street driven, fun as hell.
Nice!!! I wasn't sure how low of gearing would be too low for the 5 speed given redline is so much higher.
I was contemplating between 3.64, 3.73, and 3.91. The 328i has 2.93 and the M3 shell doesn't have a diff in it, so I can kind of go with whatever ratio I want
I really like my 3.38 as it's more of a street car. I have the 6spd but the gear ratios 1-5 and R are the same, only 6 is overdrive.
Here's max speed at redline (8200):
And speed at 3,000RPM:
I made the google spreadsheet public so you can try different tire sizes and diff ratios yourself here:

The knowledge and wisdom in this forum is unreal!! I'll play around with that and see what might work best
any good way to clean the oil pan or block/head etc? just trying to get allot of the excess oil off and all that. I saw M52 POWER (should he change his username to S54 POWER?) used a cool tool on his thread. Is this the best option from everyone's experience? I know it will take allot of elbow grease and time to get it clean, just looking for some pointers before I use allot of time doing it the hard way if there's an easier way to do it.
I also apologize that I don't really post any pictures to this thread, I've been struggling with phones the last couple of months
i cleaned all my own parts except the block and the head... reason being is the oil galley's, i think they need a professional touch. I stripped my block to its bare ass so i had the machine shop hot tank it and the head, very thorough cleaning.
the oil pan... i got myself a large plastic tub, and 5 cans of Brake Cleaner, several brass brushes(Harbor Freight), and a roll of shop towels and went at it. Its not that bad to lean it.
And i 2nd the motion for the name change to S54POWER lol

I don't plan on tearing the motor all the way apart, but who knows I may.
I've used tooth brushes and gasoline before, but I didn't like doing it that way and then the aluminum would feel rough
the oil pan is a rough casting, so either way its going to be rough... so is the outside of the engine block(cast iron).. once i soaked the oil pan in 2-3 cans of brake cleaner, i hit it with my pressure washer. Then i used Purple Power degreaser.. then hit it again with the pressure washer..

I just cleaned my oil pan and it wasn't difficult. Soak up all the surface oil with shop towels or rags. Then go at it with brake cleaner and either brushes or scotch brite pads or whatever. It cleaned up pretty easily. Had to do this prior to having a new baffle welded in. I imagine a similar process would work fine on other parts as well, though you'd obviously want to not use anything abrasive on any of the mating/bore surfaces on the block or head. The oil pan you can be a bit rougher with since it doesn't contact any moving parts and the only part that needs to seal is the gasket surface.

I'll see what I can get done tomorrow. I think it's suppose to be nice (hopefully)
Good deal on the power washer. I will defiantly have to look into that
on a side not, I almost have the engine and trans out of the new car. Should be able to get out tonight!
Nice keep working!
slowly but surely
