I started having some issues with taking off the car sometimes hesitates. And currently makes a backfiring sound a little bit. Once moving the car seems to run mostly normal. Replaced all the spark plugs with recommended bosch ones from parts store and ordered all new coils online and replaced those as well. I'm currently receiving 7 codes which are:
171 - system too lean (bank 1)
172 - system too rich (bank 1)
174 - system too lean (bank 2)
175 - system too rich (bank 2)
313 misfire detected low fuel level (pending)
456 - evap emission control system leak very small
1351 - cylinder 5 misfire
Any suggestions or help on what's going on would greatly be appreciated.
Smoke check the intake manifold system sounds like vacuum leaks
Welcome to the forum.
+1 to the smoke test. This is done with a professional smoke machine. A good BMW/Euro specialist shop should have this device. They should follow up with a fuel pressure test, because you also have "rich" codes.
Your fuel filter has the fuel pressure regulator built in. How old is that fuel filter? (They should be changed every five years or so, but this is often neglected). Spark plugs should also be less than 50k miles, and should be NGK BKR6EQUPs.
You also need to keep more gas in your car.

The fuel filter looks fairly new I'm not positive how old it really is. I did go low on gas so I assumed that's what that code was from. So the parts store recommend bosch wasn't right?
Use what Chris recommended-NGK BKR6EQUPs
+1
Even when you put in the P/N it comes with, NKG's come up: http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/part...2+12+9+071+003

Seeing this combination of fault codes would guide me to see the current values of live data on the sensors. Seems like they could be mixed up (bank 1 lean and rich?, bank 2 the same?).
Also, for the next time, please try to keep in mind that P0171 is a different code from 171 (etc.). For MS43 unit in your 525i, the BMW code 171 would mean a completely different thing.
I need to ask - as you were working around spark plugs. By chance, did you disconnect and reconnect anything else than the ignition coils? Did you touch the connectors for O2 sensors?
Why I am asking - I have seen the same symptoms with a car which was fitted with a brand new engine. In the end we found out that:
- the technician working on the car before did just remove the catalytic converters
- flashed the ECU with the EURO 2 emission software, which does not have post-cat O2 sensors
- at the moment of assembly they mixed the precat O2 sensors and did not have any better idea than to switch the pins in the connector of ECU
So after assembly we put everything together as it should be, but the O2 sensors were mixed because of the previous pins switching. After a while of seeking why the engine would backfire we found it by live data on the O2 sensors. Bank 1 was too rich and bank 2 was too lean (on the post-cat it was the opposite). The ECU was trying to make a leaner bank 1 and richer bank 2, but as the sensors were mixed up, it measured the opposite results causing running into limits.

No I didn't touch any o2 sensors or any of that.

Just got the right spark plugs in. I have a question mostly cause I have never used laser platinum plugs. Is the tip suppose to be exposed or is the white part around the tip suppose to cover it? As it is now the white part is flush with the tip. Just wanna make sure before put in
They should be flush, I am sure you purchased the NKG plugs right?

Yes the ngk laser double plats. Bkr6equp ones has 4 prongs on it
Those will work the best in that motor, so you are good to go.
