Yet another Console mod for the old girl...

    2017-05-20 11.15.42.jpg
Decided to add a voltage gauge to the console insert in the area that once had the coin holder installed from my original mod to add the cup holder.
This fit pretty well to the area I had left in front of the cup holder.
The red LCD work well with the interior lighting at night.
    Pic attach.

Looks good. Clearly the only way to have your 8 finished is to never look at this forum. Seems like I add something to the list daily looking through the posts here.

It is surely an addiction! I'm guilty of the same...

Why not to use hidden test #9 on OBC to see your voltage?

Please explain what you used for the cupholder insert if possible.

You answered your own question. Who wants to go through the gyrations of "hidden test #9" to see anything? Give me a gauge any day.

I choose stock OBC over aftermarket gauges, especially if it already has voltage gauge built in.

And just because hidden tests can't be accessed with one button, doesn't make them that difficult and time consuming to be entered for desirable feature.

P.S. That's just my point of view, but everyone should enjoy their car the way they want))

I agree. I wish my 8 had stock gauges for the normal info that a driver wants to know.

Started out with a stock BMW cup holder, PN 511682174.
Then modified it by removing most of the center and scabbing in an off the shelf Walmart plastic cup that gave me the greatest diameter for a typical coffee cup or soda. It took a lot of dremel work, hot glue and time to get it to where it is now but it was all worth it.
I like having a dedicated volt gauge to keep an eye on voltage as our vehicles are notorious for battery issues and it allows me to keep an eye on the alternator and voltage regulator.

It shows battery voltage, and each tire pressure andtemperature!? Hm...

The cut holder, indeed, looks really clean!

I believe you have an incomplete part number for the cup holder; it should have 11 digits. Please double-check it.

    Thanks,
