Will this require spacers to clear the caliper?
front: bbs rs 039 16x7 et24
rear: bbs rs 040 16x8 et24
Front is perfect. 15x7 et24 is a stock size so the 16" diameter is a no-brainer. Coupled with a 205/55/16 tire and you might as well be running stock. As for the rears, I don't think you'll need a spacer. However there isn't much benefit in running the wider wheels unless your car is making much more power than stock. You'd want a 225/45/16 tire for the rear wheels and selection at that size is poor and prices are expensive. Also, the wider rear tires will give you more understeer. Personally I think a square setup is better for these older cars.

If your e30 runs bad, switch to Megasquirt first. Then try new spark plugs, cap and rotor, wires, oxygen sensor, crank shaft position sensor, coolant temp sensor, air flow meter, idle control valve, throttle position sensor, digital motor electronics unit, harmonic balancer, fuel injectors, engine harness...
In addition to the excellent advice that Richard gave - you may want to take a look at the link below to familiarize yourself with wheel fitment and spacing/offset. It's a great guide with a lot of valuable, but easy to understand material.
