inspection of 1997 540i 6spd- what to look for?

I saw a lot of post and the pinned threads for DIY, but not really a "common problems" list. I'm going to look at a 1997 540i with 6 spd manual this afternoon. What are the "top 10" things I should be on the lookout for?

Other members should chime in, but I think the most important thing is to get a full PPI report from a BMW mechanic. Getting the codes read will also tell you exactly where the car stands; including stored codes.

I would get a PPI at a reputable independent BMW shop.
