    1990 735i rim size.

Hey pals, long time lurker here. I currently have a 1990 735i on OEM 18’ chrome from my friends 2010 7 series. Anyways, I’m in the process of getting another 1990 735i by Friday for dirt cheap. What’s the biggest size rim you can fit on it without SERIOUS modifications? I have a set of 26s sitting in my garage collecting dust. I can’t find it anywhere online and never have seen a e32 on any rims bigger than 20s. Any help would be appreciated.

Don’t bash. I’m 23yrs old. One will be for ride quality and other for show.

    Thanks.

20 is probably the absolute max and also not that easy and needs modifications. Never seen one bigger than 20, and that are only a very few.

On the front's 8.5" wide is the most you can reasonably fit without camber changes or the wheel sticking out past the edge of the fender. With 8.5" wide you want an offset of ET13 at most (ET15 may barely clear the strut). With an 18X8.5 wheel I would go with a 245/40-18 tire to match the stock outer diameter (or 245/35-19 for 19X8.5 wheels). I'm not positive about max size on the rear but you can fit at least a 9.5" wide wheel and maybe wider depending on offset or rolled fenders.

Personally I wouldn't go larger than 18" but you may be able to fit 20" with the right tire.

If you go with 17 inch wheels, 8.5 with an ET12 offset is perfect for the front and in the rear you can do 17 X 10 with an offset ET28. They're a perfect fit. Alpina wheels come in that size for the E32. I have the 8.5 X 17 Alpinas all around. There is also a set of 17 X 8 ET13 front and 17 X 9.5 ET24 offset. Also a great fit with no mods.

This is the only E32 I've ever seen with 20 inch wheels. No idea how it was done. I've had the picture for quite a while. I think the car is in the Middle East somewhere. Definitely lowered quiet a bit and I have no idea what sort of spacers are in there, but somebody figured it out. I'm happy with my 17 inch wheels and still get a great ride on them. I'd love to have this one in my driveway though.
