    Directional signals

    My directional signal display appropriately outside the car but do no "click" or indicate on the dash??

    Sounds like you may have a faulty fuse in the dashboard. What model is this for; a 3 series or an E39?

    No fuses inside the cluster.
    Try disconnecting the battery for 15 min after the trunk light goes out.
    That will reset all of the different modules and possibly fix the problem.

    Since it is a 1997, I would assume it has the older style LCM, probably an LCM II. I had the same issue on my 1998 528i. I found an LCM III in a junk yard and after installing and programming the used LCM solved my turn signal issues.

    Do some google research on LCM (light control module). Also if you have a scanner see if you can even talk to the LCM. When mine went bad, the scanner could not find it.
