Yeah, I'd really, really like to meet you "Fred". Kansas ain't too far from Chicago, Toto, have a look at a U.S.A. map and you'll see so.
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
Probably does not matter to who I am replying to but I guess others could benefit from it. I did not do that, atleast no that I know of. I just cut and spliced the green wires in the round plug in the engine bay, spliced the ylw/blk wires under the steering wheel, and swapped in a red label 413 and it starts. As far as I know what I did had nothing the do with the auto shifter lock.

I think the issue is double edged here. While I don't think either of us thought it was specifically an ews issue, the issue was specific to ews2 post 4/95 build date cars. Where there is no physical relay present to remove and jumper.
The main reason for including the information about it being the ews2 and late build date was to steer the conversation in a direction that got an answer. At first, the answers given were what was readily available and the opposite of what was asked/needed. I'm sure if you asked something specific and even said "this info does not work for my situation" and someone gave you the information you said didn't work....you'd be slightly aggrivated.
We needed to know what wires to jump to make the car start. (We didn't miss that big neon sign) We couldn't find that info until this thread. Even your post doesn't have the answer to what wires. Simply the same "jump the wires" comment but no "jump the red with the green" or something inherently useful.
But regardless. The answer is there now and hopefully it helps people I'm the future!
