I have seen people say that they had clear coat delete on metallic colors, and so I thought the clear coat delete idea was a myth. But I started doing some detailing on my paint, and based on what I'm seeing I think I do have a single stage paint. I had clearcoat issues on my e24 and had to paint it. I think I'm in the same boat as you, the only reason this paint is looking good is because it has no clearcoat. Learn something new everyday.....

All non-metallics of that era are single stage paints. Your gazellenbeige is single stage.
This car was very nicely brought up to condition and the pics show it in amazing condition.

Extremely well sold and the new owner might just add to the cars trophy collection.
This bodes well for future sales of non-745 euro cars...

Thanks! I enjoyed sorting the car out and had fun with it this summer. I had to do some serious soul searching about whether to sell this car or my e24, I couldn't keep both of them long term.
In terms of the auction results, it did a bit better than I expected. It's great to see the e23 getting the respect it deserves, these are really cool cars.
The car is going to a good home in the Boston area. I can imagine driving this car through New England during the fall foliage season. That would be a great experience!
