Hey guys,
I have a new noise coming, I believe, from the intake under the cover cap. I have attached two videos. I did not have this noise before and Its only I picked the car up from a shop (where they were checking emmissions) that I noticed this sound. Vauum distribution lines are new and Ive made sure they are tight. Any leads? Can this be a loose spark plug? Ive heard on other threads that it makes a whistling sound.
thanks for any insights shared.

I can't tell a thing from these videos. Is your idle speed normal? The gasket at the IAC has been known to fail.

Randy, I'll describe the sound. It is like a tiny dental drill playing a single note on a flute and made my stomach churn. It's really high.
I looked for my vacuum leak by putting a pry bar on the gas pedal, putting a cylindrical object in the filter end of the intake, tightening the intake clamp, and putting about 3-4 psi regulated compressed air into the intake system. Then I listened for the whistle and sprayed the intake with soapy water. I also opened and closed the oil fill cap let off pressure.
All this because I can't run the smoke machine part.
It does sound like a loose spark plug to me...

Update: i dont think its a spark plug since that is more of a "knock" sound as opposed to a whistle, but Ill check them anyways since it doesn't hurt. I think that the recently installed ccv is bad. It is a valeo from ecs....Once I lift the dipstick, the whistle goes away.
here is another video that hopefully sheds more light

It sounds to me like a bunch of tone deaf grasshoppers were instructed on how to play the banjo duel from the deliverence by someone who had never actually seen that scene in the movie.
I like where this is headed!
Is that what the guy in the video is doing to turn off the sound -- lifting the dipstick to unseal the crankcase? Worth trying another CCV.
I had mine replaced with the cooling system. I let the shop provide it so don't know what brand they used.
Is this "Genuine BMW" from ECS the Valeo CCV (PCV) that you got?

BMW MOA 696, BMW CCA 1405
Yes, that is what I was doing in the video. The ccv I installed was also after a full coolant system refresh. I made the mistake of saying it was a valeo ccv, it is in fact a Vaico

i have ordered a pricier one from FCP to see if that does the trick...

The Import Direct line from O'Reilly Auto was literally a BMW part in a BMW bag shoved in a DI box for $68 ($80ish from most everyone else). You can try and see if you get the same results. My local shop even had one in stock.
