    2003 Z4 Front Roundel

I'm trying to replace my front badge/roundel on an '03 Z4.

Both BavAuto and Pelican list that part as '51 14 7 044 207'. That item is 70mm or 2 3/4" inches across. My current emblem seems to be 82mm or 3 1/4" -- give or take. I would prefer to get the correct one in-hand before I run around with a missing emblem. Any advice on this? I'll just tear the old one off if I have to.

    Cheers.

I took the number you provided, 51 14 7 044 207 and plugged it into RealOEM. RealOEM tells me that part # is for the hood roundel, 70mm. The Z4 hood roundels are designed to sit flush in the little inset area on the bumper, perhaps you've been running around with the wrong badge all this time and now you have a chance to fix it. The trunk and side emblems are the 82mm.

I an attest to the fact that 51147044207 part number is correct. I just replaced my front roundel, along with my entire front end....

Bimmerbreaker is correct, learn to use RealOem and life gets much easier when working on a BMW.

Confirmed that my car has the wrong roundel on the front. Guy at work also rocks an '03 and I measured his to satisfy myself -- it's the 70mm version, which is what RealOEM and the others list.

Now I am curious to see a picture of the 82mm on the front?

What part of MD are you in?

    Yep, 70mm for nose!
I used a spare 82mm I had bought for one of the e30's for the front tray in engine compartment as well.
Trimmed off tabs and used 3m permanent double sided tape to adhere.

Attaching a picture. I bet the 70mm recesses cleanly, with a border rim. Haven't had time to get into it to see if this one is held on with adhesive or nuts. I will definitely post when I get to it.

I'm right up the road in HdG.

I replaced mine on my 03, had to order the grommets. It still felt loose so I dI'd the number with the double sided 3m tape. Seems a lot better, but not as tight as my original, maybe has to do with the after market grommets I used.

Great looking car! We should head out to cars and coffee sometime.

I bet that Roundel is going to be a pain to get out.

The proper fastener is a thin, tin 10mm nut.

Pull one of your kidney grills, reach in and use a 10mm socket to remove the two nuts. The roundel just pops out. Very easy.
    Installation is the reverse.

    It is NOT that hard...

Since he has an 82MM roundel shoved into his 70MM roundel spot, I'm guess there is a chance that the 82MM roundel is flat backed and glued in with double sided tape or worse. Hopefully it's double sided tape and you can use dental floss to remove the roundel and then spend an hour carefully cleaning up the goo. Worst case would be the previous owner stuck it on with JBWeld or something equally moronic. In which case you should be very careful removing it. But that's probably not the case.

I thought those were push-nuts, ie. Just push on to install. They lock on to the threads and require a 10mm to remove once pushed on.

All squared away, thanks to all. I ended up finding a 82mm side roundel glued to what must be the original 70mm.

Threw that mess away and made it right.
