Newbie Question - I apologize in advance :-)

    Hi Gents,
I wanted to start by apologizing for asking what I already know is a tough question to answer but you seem like a fine group of experts. I am amazed at how much car you get for your money when looking at some pre-owned E60's - they are a masterpiece.

With that in mind, I decided that I'd like to start looking for one in the $30K territory.

It seems every brand and model of vehicle out there has there own idiosyncrasies, so I ask about the E60: Are there any model years I should be wary of? Any specific models/options to avoid because they're notoriously expensive to maintain or break often? Any mileage thresholds where things seem to deteriorate quite rapidly? Any wisdom you can pass along when I start my search?

Although it doesn't have the 'peel your face off' racing characteristics of the M5, I was also considering a 760 - would love to hear your thoughts on that as well.

Thank you very much for any/all advice.

    Regards,
    Tim

The M5's are an amazing machine. However, when they break, they can be extremely costly to repair. So keep that in mind. On the other hand, the 760 fits the same bill as far as repair costs.

Yea, that performance doesn't come cheap, I get it

Are there any chronic issues with either model that seem to pop up around the same age/mileage?

    Thanks.
