Federal RS-RR tires... Run wide? Correct size to order for OEM wheels?

Planning to order the new Federal RS-RR tires for HPDE use on stock Style 68 wheels (17x7.5 front and 17x8.5 rear). I read the RS-RR's run very wide.. one size large.

Can anyone tell me if Federal's 225/45R17 will properly fit on the 7.5" wide front wheel? I was thinking of ordering 215/45R17 and 235/40R17 to be safe...

Also if anyone has any feedback re: hard track use with these tires (not street and auto-x), I'd appreciate that too!

EDIT: MODS - CAN THIS BE MOVED TO WHEELS & TIRES SUBFORUM?

I ran a 245/35/18 federal rs-r on a 18x8 on the front of my e36 and it fit just fine, i know this may not be the exact size you were looking at but i figured i would drop a data point in the mix

I was dead set on getting these tires and ended up going with the Hancook RS-3. They have the Hancook RS-4 out now so you can probably find the RS-3 on closeout somewhere. The reason I went with the Hancook is primarily because the RS-RR have pretty bad reviews in the rain or wet. I have a 2002 330ci that is primarily track only but wanted something that I could use in the rain as well as dry.

There are a few reviews out there and people seem to really like the RS-RR in the dry, so if you have something else for the wet or wont run it in the wet go for it. The sizes you listed should be good. I would recommend finding another set of rears and running a square setup with 8.5 all the way around. It will let you rotate them and also help with the natural understeer these seem to have on track.
