    E36 LED headlight bulbs... anyone?

I'm converting soon to the Euro non projector glass headlights with the city lights. I run 85 watt halogen low beams and 100 watt halogen high beam conventional bulbs now. I had to up the fuses and had one connector melt due to poor contact.

Anyway, I was thinking a 4500k led replacement bulb might be good for color, high output lumens, low temp and low amperage but I don't see mention of them. Or I missed it...

Anyone care to share their experiences with these bulbs? The good bad and ugly bulbs and where to get the good?

If I did this I'd probably swap the fog light bulbs too. (Those are also 85watt halogens now)

    Thanks!

Hmmm. No one is running theese? I thought for sure I'd have a few responses by now...

I'm going to convert my fog lights at the same time I think. Any opinions/experience appreciated before I buy bulbs!

    So, did you do it?

All I read about is poor patterns with LEDs. How has your experience been?

Nope. Not yet. I was waiting on feedback. I don't have projector lights- if that makes a difference... just Euro glass standard ones, with the city light bulbs as well.

I've been reading reviews of the new saber kits DDM sells on one of the Tacoma or 4 Runner forums, and they really like these new LEDs - at least for high beams. Almost makes me want to try them out.

I'm running 85w low beams and 100w high beams now. I have fried one bulb connector already... I think the fogs are also 85w. All matching color too, which is important to me.

Switching to glass has helped with getting light out, but I figured if I'm buying another set of bulbs, why not 21st century's technology.

I think I'd like one without a cooling fan. I think that is silly.

I thought there'd be more activity on this subject..,

I haven't done it in my e36 but did an LED conversation in my Austin Healey Sprite from the original sealed beams and I couldn't be happier. The lighting in it is on par or better than any modern car. The Sprite uses an H4 connector so I'm not sure what's available for the e36 connector. The best thing I can recommend is read reviews of the bulbs, Amazon is a good place for that. Many bulbs come with a way to change the light pattern a bit with a blocking screw in the front.
I highly recommend an LED upgrade for headlights. I also recommend not buying cheap bulbs.

Note many bulbs have a little fan on the back that makes noise. You can usually hear the fan with the car off and the lights on but never with the car running.

Euro headlights burn the dip beam connectors in standard spec with standard bulbs, just so you are aware.

Why not do a xenon or bi-xenon conversion and use led highs for flash to pass .
That’s my plan on the e36
Currently in Depo projectors with city lights and hid-low beam : halogen and i get good pattern not much glare . Did the cutoff mod do my line is pretty flat and i keep the aim low .
In HID planet seems leD scatter and glare too much . Doesn’t seem too well received unless you want to piss people off and possibly attract the attention of police .
