    Exclamation 2003 745Li issues

    Hello all!

    Not sure if this question has been asked before if so please guide me to the right post, Much appreciated. If not here it goes. I have a 2003 Bmw 745Li with 86k miles. In rare occasions the car decides to take an extra couple seconds to start is if there was no spark (New spark plugs). This last time it cranked for about 5 seconds and I pressed the engine stop button and pressed it again to start. This time the vehicle started, however, gave me the Transmission failsafe mode. I simply turned it off and on and like magic it went away. Fail safe mode has only happened to me twice within 1 month apart fro each incident. Battery, starter, and alternator have been tested.

    Another problem I am having is when slowing down and dropping RPM it jumps a bit and I feel a little push before coming to a stop.
    Engine RPMs are dropping down to 1500 when slowing down and they rise slightly that I can feel a push then just stay normal.

    Not sure if I explained these issues well but hopefully someone can help me with this problem.

    I have changed the spark plugs on the vehicle already, serviced the transmission by replacing filter and oil 7quarts. K&N air filter installed

    Well the first step I would do is have a look at the DME using INPA to see what codes maybe stored there. Next would be the EGS or transmission DME, as you noted that the failsafe program light has come on. Either way you will find some codes, so I would find a shop to scan the car.

    Your car has several dozen computers. These computers store codes when they feel something is wrong. Your computers are waiting for you to ask them what's wrong. This will require a good BMW specific diagnostic tool.
