I've searched around the forum but can't find a thread about replacing the front windshield. Wondering if it's possible to remove a used one without breaking it and also what issues the rain sensing part of it brings to the problem?
On these cars, it is best to leave it for a pro to change the front windshield, and pulling one from a used car can be tough without breaking it. I have heard of people using piano wire to cut the glue holding the glass in place.
Yes, if your car has the rain sensor, make sure you get a windshield with it, otherwise it won't work properly.

Thanks dworthy...kind of what i anticipated....for some reason my insurer claims I waived glass replacement when I re-licensed this car after a deer collision and when it recently developed a crack I found out they wouldn't cover it...:-(
Windshields are cheap. Had mine replaced not long ago, it also has rain sensor. Guy came to my house and did it in my driveway, took him less then an hour. Total bill was about $325 Cad including the glass and weatherstrip. No insurance.

That is cheap! I expected the rain sensing would add a lot to the cost but I'll see if I can find that kind of pricing here.......Thanks for that legoman
Get a at-your-place pro to do it. The glass may be "cheap" or cost less than you thought it might, but one wrong move and your new glass is a billion little flakes. AMHIK.
I had my E36 'vert windshield glass replaced for about $300 US but that was three or so years ago. Shop around, it can help.
