I took my 2005 645ci to BMW for some coding and asked the foreman to do me a favor and check the climate control system as I have no AC and only hot air coming from all vents. He did a scan and found "a water valve stuck open" Is he referring to the heater valve? The diagnosis is not on my invoice because he didn't charge me to check it.
while doing some research I have found that this seems to be common problem with these cars so i'm sure an answer will help many owners.
Thanks in advance.
It's not super common but happens. The water valve/heater valve directs coolant to the heater core and is responsible for heating the air for cabin temperature requests. A water valve stuck open will always be sending hot coolant to the heater core and cancelling out the cold air from the vents.
Thanks for the reply, I ordered a new water valve and the day I was going to change it the AC started working. I haven't changed it yet However, I still have hot air coming from the footwell and windshield vents, but cold air from the center vents. Could this still be an issue related to the water valve?
