not extremely familiar with top mount or where the guys return too.

Easiest with no tapping would be to replace one of the 2 vanos sprocket bolts with bolt that has a flange on it with rubber/ or whatever hose
if not youll have to tap oil pan.

    something like this, maybe

    to here:

Would be easiet route if you dont want drop subframe and drill pan. Not sure how high the turbo would sit but u could always run a $60 scavenge pump

Another tip, you can use the newer exhaust mani studs from n54 335i etc as they are shorter, have an etorx head on the tip and will give you so much more room to work! I also used ball bearings in the holes because I felt they were going on too deep for nice thread engagement.

And please don't compromise on oil return!!! Little less critical for top mount with gravity on your side but personally I cheaped out, short-cutted and installed junk that leaked and then had to later pull the oil pan and replace with a welded -an fitting while on my back using jack stands. You really want that part bulletproof

Also saw someone that tapped the timing cover for oil drain but did not look deep into that solution because I'm bottom mount.

Mani studs complete last night , many hours, lol

i will continue researching oil return on top mount before doing anything. Options are nice if they will work correctly
those 2 blot/plugs would be sweet if they work with top mount

looks and appears to be high enough to use gravity to one of those bolts.

I use the bolts from bottom mount with 2 scavenge pumps and a check valve with no smoking issues

I've been boosted for a couple years. Just do a .140mls with arp studs and you'll be good. Haven't read all the comments yet, so not sure on your power goals. But you'll be safe on 400whp on that. Piss pounded mine on 400whp with an hx35, 60lb injectors on Miller. and never missed a beat. I'm on e85 and an s366 now on just a stock motor with head gasket and studs and again never missed a beat tuned on stock dme by a good buddy of mine and blew tires off until rev limiter in 3rd gear.lol I feel just a head gasket and studs is just a necessity for boost applications at all. The stock blocks are tough little bastards

Crazy Question, does powder coating hold up on these valve covers?

Looks like I'm gonna move forward with Nick instead of Zach just being Nick is 10 minutes away from me and is able to provide the tune
hopeful to install arp bolts, fuel pump, and oil feed this coming week.
multi confirmations on oil return to pan train plug being top mount turbo.
sounds like this 6266 might be a little large and slow to spool, (4000 rpm?)
any feed back on the spool at 4000 rom

It is pretty big for a 2.5. I would expect it to start making boost at 3000 and probably 15 lbs by 4000.

    gotcha,
would you suggest trying to exchange? For what size?
or do you think it will work ok

I would keep the 6266. It may be too big for you now but it won't be later. I wish I bought a big turbo from the beginning....

6262 with a small back housing will be good. In my opinion a 6266 is too big for 2.5 L. Maybe even a 5858 for 2.5L.

Gotcha, might be a challenge being that i didn't purchase directly.
precision stated it will be good for future goals when motor work is done

6266 will most likely hit 15# by 4400-4800 with a 2.5L. Its a big turbine wheel for small displacement. If that was my car I would look for bigger displacement or smaller turbo. Maybe 2 steps smaller. Personally I feel a 58-60mm compressor with a 58-62mm turbine wheel would be a way better choice.
Sell the 6266 to someone with a 3.0-3.2L.

Now if you revved to 8k+ then the 6266 might be a good choice.

The smaller set up would hit at what rpm range?
the major difference of the size is WHEN the turbo starts to spool and create power?

Has anyone ever installed Arp studs with cams in place?
I don't see the arp washers fitting through the cam cradle housing (not sure on the correct term)
    any feedback appreciated

Yes. I did with schrick cams years ago. Had to grind down a socket or two for clearance. This was in 2007 or 8. Maybe the nuts were smaller then but I cannot remember for sure.
