So, your base fuel pressure will be much higher than the stock 51 @ 0 vac. This becomes a problem if your relying on buying a tune from (xxxxxx). There will need to be adjustments because of it. Idle/part throttle fuel trims the car will be pulling fuel due to a rich condition, you will be looking adaption codes till the tuner adjusts injector pulse widths. So, to make things easier, we buy these cool looking adjustable FPR's , mount them on the strut tower, and then we as the user can kinda tweak the tune a little ourselves.

Gotcha, thats helpful. so basically to do it right on E85 I'd need to collect:

-Walbro 450 pump, one in tank be sufficient? or you saying I should have an inline as well?
-larger injectors - would siemens deka 80lb be large enough? they are about 875cc
-Aftermarket FPR, any recommendations that don't break the bank?

I'm already on ARP's just with stock compression. Original plan was sub 10psi on stock compression this year, I've seen alot of people have good results with that. currently have 42lb bosch injectors for that. Then do the CES spacer + cutring next year and raise up to 13-15 and probably invest in a ZF at that point.. its just a summer weekend car I like to tool around in... But now you guys are getting me thinking I should do E85 and skip the spacer + cutring... I'll ponder on it

I’m running aeromotive 340 lph, only 1 in tank,Deka 60 lb (I believe, provided with tune)great tune I might add!!. Don’t recall fpr ( car in shop having cage fab)
i lack the experience but the arp+ E85 has been incredible. I had the boost at all kinds of level, even in the 20s when I had the wastegate lines incorrect, lol. Currently 12 pounds and focused on handling and traction
what motor and turbo for your build? Top/btm?

Top mount. motor is an M50b25tu. same as yours I believe. Turbo is a garret t3/t4 57 trim. I'm in an e30 chassis tho! I don't have any Nick G around me tho, so I'm doing a self tune on megasquirt for now.. And I found a guy about 40 mins away who can tune a megasquirt system.

But I'm in the cities so e85 is everywhere around here, seems like that might be a better route for me and I might not even have to bother with the Headgasket for my goals... I don't really want more than 450whp in my e30.. I think that would be too much.. Ideally close to 350-400max and I'd be very happy to just enjoy it. Just fabricated up the downpipe a couple days ago, its coming along.

How far are you from Warsaw Indiana? My business partner recently moved back there (well, recent as in last Sept lol). Anyways, we have had thousands of dyno tuning hours on MS and classic BMW's. e30 and e36. Bit of a haul for you, but you know it will be done right We even run turbo on stock 1995-earlier ECU's all the time in a live situation. The Motronic ECU is a bit of an anomaly so remote tuning is a bear, but I have dozens of them daily driving with +1 atmosphere much like Thompson.

I might not be a Nick-g, but have a pretty good grasp on mapping and manipulating chip files... started messing with Motronic 3.x in 2011, been hacking prom chips since 06

This is probably what I'm going to go with too. I love how sometimes e85 is cheaper than 87 here, even with ~25% efficiency loss.

Thanks mate! Appreciate your help and documenting! Anyone has any recommendation on a particular FPR set up I'd love hear... I assume the whole fuel rail has to be replaced since the stock regulator is in the rail.

I believe they block off the fpr hole. New rail I don’t think is necessary

Woooh, local turbo boys! Yea I lived in South Minneapolis for a bit. Right above lake Hiawatha on 43rd.

Someguy2800 I might pick your brain on Megasquirt settings once I get to that point. I've never done a full standalone before but I was interested in giving it a try and learning some things along the way

    Looks good man!

Was it requirement for you to install a cage or did you just want piece of mind?

lost compression on cylinder 6 on first day back at track, I think it took place when I missed a gear. It was fun when it lasted
ready to have the S50 built
looking to make as reliable as possible for road coarse
undecided on power goals, 450 -550 should be plenty for road coarse
some suggest NA for road coarse
    feedback In always appreciated
