Should there be a filter/basket in the brake fluid reservoir?

I was flushing my brakes today for probably the 50th time on an E36 when I noticed i could see clear to the bottom of the reservoir and that there was no little mesh/screen/filter/basket in there under the level sensor plunger. Shouldn't there be one in there? Or am i thinking of a different car? RealOEM shows one, but its grayed out. I'm losing my mind...

Yes mine has one. Its kind of a baffle for the level sensor. Like a fuel pump baffle. Keeps the minor changes from acceleration sloshing the fluid around from tripping the sensor intermittently.

Yeah it should be there but no big deal that it isn't. It's bright green on mine FYI.

It's grayed out because the part is NLA.

Good to know i'm not crazy. I have no idea where the damn thing went. I never take it out, even to flush. Weird.

    Thanks.
