Hello all,
I'm trying to remove the radio from my 2003 3.0i.
I thought this video was a big help.

At 0:36 you can see the two tabs that need to be pulled down from the inside.
My problem is that I can not find those tabs to save my life.
I tried to take this picture the best I can:

That is the only hole I see on the top of the inside of the vent, however it doesn't appear to have ANYTHING to pull down, it also seems to be smaller than what is shown on the video. At 0:36 in the video the guy has his finger on the tab, the holes I've found are about half the width of my finger.
Does the 2003 model have a different way to remove the vent? Or am I missing something?
thanks
That is the tab showing through the vent trim..... You stick a slim screwdriver on each tab ( on the top side) and lever both of them down. That allows the radio to be levered out using some plastic levers (so it doesn't scratch the radio/trim)..... I've done it numerous times and it's easier said than actually done. The tabs need to be levered down as the radio is "levered" out..... You may be able to do one side at a time.....
Nevermind.
Glad I spent $5 on Dash Removal tools on Amazon. I wiggle the ever loving mother effing hell out of that air vent, Eventually it came out.
After it was out, I could clearly see that there would be no way in the world a screw driver would reach the metal tabs, the tabs were just bent up so much they didn't extend at all into the slot on top of the air vent. Will upload pictures later.
I meant to say lever vent vice radio.....Glad you were able to get it out by wiggling......I use a very small screwdriver..... a 4" long screwdriver which is used for very small screws to lever the tabs.

There is just no way they could ever be reached from the inside. After the removal, I supported the vent with one hand and pushed down on the tabs to see if I could bend them a bit lower, but the plastic was bending quite a bit and I didn't want to risk it.
