Hey guys it's my first post here. I just had a quick two part question. I currently daily a Lincoln MKZ and have an Porsche 911 as a play tow. The MKZ is leased and it ends in 2 months, so I was looking to get a bought bimmer to replace it. However I didn't want to break my bank as I just got a new appartment. I found a used BMW 550 with 246,000 miles on it for 10k. Originally I was turned off instantly at the miles, but 10k is something I can buy stress free. I also believe that anything will run if it's taken care of. What do you guys think about that?
secondly I would prefer to purchase an extended warranty for it.
Easy care wouldn't give me a quote until I own the vehicle
endurance wants 395 a month for 18 months,
Protect my car offered me a deal of 70 per month over 36 months. Which is nice but they only cover half of the repair costs. I'm not sure if the other coverages cover it in full? Any suggestions? Thanks a lot
I would love to know the previous owner(s) of that 550 since I haven't heard such clocking close to 250k miles. That's a record hahaha especially through the bad rep sheet of the N63. What is the overall condition? Obviously it must undergo some repairs if it reaches such a mileage, makes me feel a little better to see potential in long life in the N63 category lol.
Now again with the miles, the extended coverage warranties may decline altogether or may go partial with you. I've heard most cap their full coverage after 150k, some may go to 200k but research must be done to get your answer. Again, I don't think anyone here clock over 200k on a F10 yet, let alone clocking over 100k haha. So your question is a tough one to answer.
10k is pretty cheap, but you need to know the history of the car such as repairs done, maintenance, etc etc to make the call. Obviously, there has to be something done to it to get to that milestone.
Got pics of it? Need moar details!
I wouldn't touch an N63 with 246k
ASE and BMW Master Certified Technician
Or pretty much any N63...
If you have only $10K to spend and want luxury and like your MkZ, look for a used MkZ or buy yours out. I can't thing of ANY car I would buy with over 100K miles, let alone almost 250K miles! That owner drove almost 800 miles a week!
Now, if it's really 24600 it might be worth a look.
Way too many miles. Even if its tight as hell the upkeep will bury you. These aren`t Lexus`s. I don`t know about $10 grand but if you want to look at something safer consider an Infinity M56. They have most of the same toys and similar performance but cost 30% less new so you can probably find a used one with half the mileage for similar money, and they are naturally aspirated and much cheaper to maintain.
