I get this droning sound at 35 mph plus...not the wuh wuh wuh of a wheel bearing, but a more steady sound...any thoughts? driveshaft? sound continues if you go to neutral...
I thought it was coming from left front, jacked car, rolled tire seems tight and no noise.

Insulation rubbing on driveshaft?

Is there a drone following you?
Could be the transmission tunnel sound insulation falling part and rubbing against the driveshaft or Gubio joint. I've had this and it drove me nuts till I poked around under there, saw pieces of it coming apart so I ripped some of it out and all was good.
I've been chasing a constant squeaking sound (like eeEEEeeEEEeeeEEEeeeEEEEeee) that seems to be coming from underneath the car somewhere, and was poking around underneath my car today trying to find the source. I found what you're describing too, although I'm not sure it's the source of my noise. It had been rubbing on the guibo so long that it was wearing a pattern in it. I ripped out as much of it as I could get my hands on, although that wasn't much because I was at a bad angle without much clearance underneath. I managed to clear all of it away from the guibo area at least.
Still to be determined if this fixes my noise, although I have my doubts. My main suspect at this point is the carrier bearing, although I can't get a look at it without dropping the exhaust.
I assume this is just there for NVH purposes, and that I can drive the car without it with no problems? It would seem so, since it appears to have been uselessly dangling there getting chewed up by the driveshaft for some time now, but I would like to make sure.
Here you can see the ruined insulation making contact with the guibo
A better shot of the guibo by itself. Wear clearly visible.
The mess I ripped out. The plastic was very brittle and crumbly, and backed by some kind of foam with a sticky backing.
The driveshaft had abraded the plastic where it was rubbing on it

Bad rear sub-frame bushings can cause a droning or "drumming" noise at low speeds.
