    Question Sporadic "Jerking???"

    Hi everyone.

I have a 98 e39 540i automatic. Recently while driving the car, it jerked and then continued driving like nothing happened. It has done this sporadically 3 times on three different drives. Any ideas might cause this erratic behavior?

    TIA!

Likely a fault in the spark plugs or dirty injectors. Getting the codes read will give you a definitive answer where to look.

    So NO VANOS. Thanks!

Anyone else think it could be something else besides plug or dirty injector? Trying to get a consensus on this although I will pull codes later...
