Hatch Trim piece ... Can't figure out what is missing

Ok.. I'm working on finishing my hatch covers.. the only thing I can't figure out what goes in the hole to the left of the latch from the parts diagrams. PO was a turd and clues.. ... looking at it as it is open.. a light? Can someone post some pictures of their hatches..

To the immediate left is a light. Further to the left near the corner is a trim cap.
