I have removed all the nuts and bolts from the flanges but cannot separate the cat pipes from the exhaust manifold. I have soaked them with wd40, pb blaster etc. obviously rust has set it. What next? Will heat do the trick? I hate to hit them with the torch as there is little room up in there. Any tips are appreciated.
I have an unfortunately intimate relationship with that job right now. The flange with the bolts you can remove has a crushable ring holding things together. I separated it using a small bolt with two nuts and washers. Pass the bolt through the hole in the flange, then a washer, nut, nut, washer. One nut and washer centers the bolt in the opposite flange. Screw the other nut up the bolt until it backs off the flange. Simple.

Happy to help. I've been on 8 series message boards since I bought my car in 1999 and have been the beneficiary of many such tips and tricks.
