2006 E90 + Galaxy 7S bluetooth pairing

Got a new Galaxy7S phone; although the bluetooth pairs the pairing lasts less than 30 sec. The phone 's bluetooth works (I successfully paired with my E60 n iPad and a windows laptop). Also the E60 bluetooth pairs with an iPhone and another Android phone.
The dealer (BMW of Rochester NY) wants some $300 to perform a software upgrade which is absolutely silly ; I called BMW of North America and they were absolutely cuueless - unbelievable)
Has anyone ran into this issue and can it be resolved ? Any advice welcome. Thanks.

I've heard of this issue and I believe the software update was the resolution. Other members should chime in and confirm though.

This might be late, it's an older thread, but the update can be downloaded for free from https://www.bmw.com/update and installed without involving a dealer. All you need is a USB memory stick, then follow the instructions on the update site.
