Thanks for your insights and recommendations. What did you use for the two catalytic converters up front? I see on the internet that Borla makes "supposedly" OEM type replacements for about $675 a side. I want to make sure that I don't have a problem with the infamous "check engine" light or fail to meet annual mandatory Nevada DMV emission checks. Thanks again.....
Oops... the catalytic converters were also Magnaflow... 93684 and 93685 for about $600 each "with" an extensive tubing or pipe "setup" included in the price. Is this what you would recommend? In effect, a Magnaflow replacement system for all FIVE major components?
Those Magnaflow units are OEM replacements. I originally went with the Magnaflow universal 53956 catalytic converters, but they couldn't stand up to the temperatures the FI produced. I am currently running a test pipe while I source a suitable replacement that doesn't take up too much space.
Another question regarding muffler choice and selection... Magnaflow has a Street Series stainless steel muffler with dual square DTM tips (2.25" Center ID, 3" Dual OD, 14" length) for about $210 each... did you consider or would these be mufflers TO consider since our 850 cars had dual square exhaust outlets (but, with a slightly staggered configuration). Thanks again for your help?
The Magnaflow Street Series stainless steel mufflers referenced above with the dual square tips on each muffler are the Magnaflow 14804 model for about $210 and which "appear" to have the potential to "look" something like our current square tip exhaust tips that were OEM on our 1991 BMW 850s "when new". What are your thoughts on the potential use of these mufflers as part of a Magnaflow package of two up front cat converters, a middle resonator and two mufflers? Thanks again for your help!

Does anyone have a source for header flanges that would match the flanges on the twin down pipes that the cats are part of on the M70? I am thinking about a new exhaust system and would like to install new down pipes without cats. I guess I could cut off the old flanges and either reuse them or have someone replicate them if they aren't already available. Thanks,
Would you have any part numbers?
