My Aug 1996 build 840Ci just rolled 125,000km the other day. Not bad for a 20 1/2-year-old car Who has the least amount of mileage? Seeing is believing.

My 97 840 just hit 60k miles, but there are people here with much lower i believe
No odometer shot but model year is 1993, build date is 11/1992...currently at 158,500 miles
1993 850Ci.....18 years & 165,000 miles and counting!
My '97 will turn 59K the next time it leaves the garage! Build date of 5/96, I bought it 12/28/2017 - am the third owner. About 15 miles short of 59K this morning.
It lived next to the e9, build date of May '74 in the Avatar during the winter months. About 100 miles of exercise so far, but it will be a LOT more by the time I return from the Vintage in late May.

This one I took photos of a few months ago, has 48,000 km.
That's about 29,000 miles for you imperial freaks.
My 1991 has 148K starting to get reliable after 2.5yrs of ownership, the last guy stopped driving it, glad He sold when he did. these cars need to be driven. mine is daily driven 20 miles to work in summer at least 1/2 time, it only sits abut 4 mths with the battery tender in winter. $2,500 in parts so far, but now starts and won't limp home anymore.
Interesting on how we tend to value low mileage over and above higher mileage cars that may have been better maintained and in more regular use. My experience is that regardless of mileage these cars will all need plenty of $$$ to keep them reliable just on age related issues.
I bought my car from original owner in Toronto Oct 2015 with 99K kilometers, Nov 1990 build. It has been a trouble free drive even to now with 112K kilometers. I must say original owner had the BMW dealer, who sold him the car, do all the service with EVERY stamp in the book since new until the sale to me!!!!! I truly believe I am lucky to have found this car, besides the fact it is the color/ interior ( sterling silver/ blue leather with sport seats) I would have bought new.
I couldn't agree with you more. My '92 850i has 36.7K miles and most of the repair work I've done recently is replacing components that were perished due to age rather than use (mostly items with rubber components). A car can receive the best of care and be stored in the best environment, but a quarter century is a long time and things are eventually going to wear out just because of time. For example, I just replaced all my original shocks. I could push the shafts in with a single finger and none of them sprung back up. My car was meticulously maintained and, based on the cosmetic condition, treated to a very good life by the previous owner who had her for 25 years. Again, some things just fail over time.
I think the thing I am most happy with this car is there isn't an ounce of rust or corrosion anywhere. That's really made maintaining this old gal a pleasure.
