I need an advise on replacing my e38 transmition shall I do it ??

Hi All,
The transmission on my 1998 e38 failed and I need to decide either get rid of the car (has 177 K) or replace the transmission with a used one for 2k, I am in Colorado Fort Collins , any good advise will be very helpful. Thanks.

used trans for $2,000?...surely that includes installation and is it rebuilt or just straight up used?
had mine replaced with a said good used smooth shifting trans out of a 540 and paid $150 for trans and $200 for seals, filter and fluid and then what would have been $400 labor to swap it in. total investment around $700.
for 2000 im pretty sure u can get a rebuilt trans installed or for about $1000 more u can have a 6 spd swapped in lol

Yes installation is included, I should look into rebuilt .

6 speed can be done extra cheap if you just move two wires around.

Soldering a couple wires on the gear selection lever. TFS but it'll run.
