My driver's side sh!t the bed, I see metal gears available albeit from China, has anyone tried them yet? Price is more reasonable too.
Thanks.
Care to post a link?
You'll be fine with either replacement though I'd think.

The reason the gear is plastic is to prvent the motor/drivel linkage from damage.

I see the metal gear offered, then I see an add for a white, red or green gear.
Do they make the other versions for the other use I searched a bit but saw only the one?
Only 2 available for sale left..
This looks like a brass metal which is soft and safer for the motor.
The seller says it is a drivers side recline gear

White or green, or pink, are for the driver side or the passenger side, and tilting the seat bottom and tilting the seat back. Different gears for different sides and different axii.

<br>I tried two of the cheap Chinese gears from Ebay. They stripped the teeth as soon as I tried to raise the seat from a reclined position. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...r-e36-e36gear# has lifetime guarantee gears (better plastic) from Odometer Gears for $30. Everyone else is $40 for the same gear.
Autohaus AZ also has Odometer Gears for $28
