Alright so my instrument cluster clicks when i have the lights on. The fuze blew so i replaced it but does anyone know why its clicking?
A diagnostic scan should reveal the error.
This is one of the more difficult clusters to diagnose. The interfaces/computers necessary to reach the 1996 cluster diagnostics are much more difficult to set up, and there is no guarantee it will get to the cluster. I've always had great difficulty reaching 1996-1997 E36 (non M) clusters with ICOM or ADS.

- E36 328is ~210-220whp: Lots of Mods.
- 2000 Z3: Many Mods.
- 2003 VW Jetta TDI Manual 47-50mpg
- 1999 S52 Estoril M Coupe
- 2014 328d Wagon, self-tuned, 270hp/430ft-lbs
- 2019 M2 Competition, self-tuned, 504whp
- 2016 Mini Cooper S
So i can try to scan for the issue?
You can try, but most likely, no useful result.
(this is just from my experience on quite a few 96-97 clusters. Even tried with an Autologic. If you manage, I'd sure love to know how. You would have to get an ADS interface, on a laptop with a true serial port)

So out of experience what would cause the clicking. Id like to go through and test everything
Isn't the speedo/odo driven by a motor? That's all the motion inside that I can think of. Knowing which fuse blew might help
If you can leave two black stripes from the exit of one corner to the braking zone of the next, you have enough horsepower. - Mark Donohue
Fuze 34 blew. But it sounds more like a relay click thats consyantly going off
