    Slip ring question

I just scored a really nice (10K miles on it - mint!) steering wheel from a E39 M5, which, I thought, was the same wheel and a direct bolt on to my m coupe. Well, once I took old wheel off, I realized that it is different and the slip ring from MC won't fit the wheel from M5. Now - I don't have the slip ring from M5, so the question is for those who know: if I get an M5 slip ring would I be able to fit the wheel to my MC or even with M5 slip ring it won't be possible?
Thanks in advance for any replies.

Scott McFadden should be able to answer that questions for you__technically, I should, since I installed it__but Scott supplied the M5 wheel I installed on his car...

Come to think of it, the wheel "might've" been modified by Brent, to fit the stock (M Coupe) slip-ring...??

    Compare them for yourself:

OK, so looks like its not an easy plug and play....
I guess I could always just epoxy the slip ring to the M5 wheel....

What does this little white latch do?

Just some advice, dont epoxy anything related to a critical safety component. The steering wheel airbag is the most important safety device in your car, there are ways to make the M5 wheel work correctly (though for all the effort I hope its an 01+ wheel)

As I remember the white latch is a clip to hold in the slip ring

No its a 2000 M5 wheel - looks exactly like the MC wheel, just a bit thicker and this one is literally mint. And I got it for next to nothing without even thinking it won't fit. So, yeah - was hoping there was an easy solution to this but there isn't one. Will probably just sell this wheel and get the correct one. Thanks!

You could always just send your wheel off to get re-wrapped a bit thicker
