E46 325 Misfire and following problems

Hi, i currently own a e46 2005 325ci and have only put 3000 km (171987 KM) on the clock from the previous owner. in this time i have replaced

    - Brake pads and Rotors $930
    - Expansion tank on twice, top hose, thermostat, rocket cover gasket cover and pipe - $1350
    - Check engine light = Cylinder 1 misfire, replaced spark plugs and 1 coil pack as well as both front struts and a front passenger head light $1138

so as you can see i have spent quite the amount of money on the car since purchase, now having just sorting out the cyl 1 misfire not two days a go i already have another check engine light, i have not had this coded yet but i was wondering if anyone knows anything that could help? could be mechanic didn't fit something properly, or it could be something really simple or these are preemptive signs of something more serious? Cheers.

sorry for re post wasn't getting much attention on the other sub

Honestly, if you are not able to DIY on most repairs, except the truly difficult,
then a BMW would not be an affordable option for DD transportation.
A BMW automobile that requires visits to a dealer or BMW specialist shop,
for everything from simple diagnostics to minor maintenance and beyond,
because the owner is disinterested or unskilled in DIY repairs,
is not an affordable option for the average person, sorry.

Now if you are ready to jump into the deep end,
dig into required research, along with asking for,
and accepting helpful advice and tips from forum members,
Welcome to BMW ownership and a continuing DIY learning curve.

DIY would have probably saved you around $1,500 in that price list you have listed.

I just replaced all 4 brake pads and rotors on my sisters 330ci for literally just under $295.45 shipped (VIP FCP memeber) and took about 3 1/2 hours including flushing the brake fluid.

Regarding your code, you need to hook up the reader. Can't just guess a problem without the code and symptoms (if present).

That's one of the big issues with owning an older vehicle. If you can't do things yourself, it makes it hard to justify owning.

The money you will save on labor will buy one hell of a toolset...
