    New tires

I bought a 2001 Z3 3.0 last September with 59K on it and the tires look fine but are over 8 years old and feel hard. I want to get new tires but I only use the car in good weather and I have only done about 500 miles on it since I bought it. I only use it to putt around town and never drive it hard so I am wondering if I need to buy expensive tires. I can get a set of Hancook for about $115 ea. before a $70 rebate for a set of 4 tires. Costco also is having a $70 rebate for 4 Michelin tires that I think will be about $100 more for the set. What do you recommended for the low mileage driver like myself?

Michelin or BF Goodrich G Force Comp 2 A/S. You will feel the difference.

I have Hancooks for autocross and Michelin AS3 for trips. Both are great tires, but there is a big difference between the two. I also have heaver springs (for autocross), so my car feels every bump in the road. The Michelins give a much better ride.

The Conti DWS06's are great tires.

I have the DWS's on my Z3 and the DWS06's on the 328Ci. The DWS06's replaced the DWS's and are supposed to ride quieter.

Depends what you want. Do you care about ride, noise, handling, cost? There is a recent thread on tires. You might want to check it out. I just bought the new-for-2017 Continental Extremecontact Sport and I really like them. They are more money than you're talking about, but worth it in my opinion.

I went and bought the michelin pilot super sports for mine. (at costco) pricey but they are super grippy and give you a lot more confidence in corners at speed.

For ~1000 easy miles a year I would buy the Hankooks or other inexpensive tires and never look back. Keep an eye on inflation if you don't drive the car much.

You drive like me. Four years and 12K miles ago, I bought a set of Hankook 225/50R16 Ventus V4 ES tires from Tire Rack for $420, after a rebate with free shipping, and they are fine.
