Which Part of the DME Stores the Car's Data; is it Possible to Swap DME Eproms

    Good evening,

I'm new to this forum. Pleasure to meet you all.

I'm looking for some help/advice, as the Original DME, in my BMW E46 N42 318Ci 2003, is not activating the AUX Fan. So, I acquired a Used DME, with the same model number as my Original DME, which is: DME 7508292. Through ISTA-D, this activated the AUX Fan, but because the DME is not synced with the EWS, I was wondering whether, rather than cloning the DME, it would be possible to remove the EPROM, which stores all of the data, and swap them out? If this would be possible, which EPROM/Chips store all of the car's data?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

On your particular DME, the ME9.2, you would need to transfer the flash.. but part of the firmware also resides on the MPC, so it needs to be matched. If they're mismatched firmware, the DME will not boot. Then the eeprom holds some minor vehicle settings.

Use BDM to clone, much easier.

    Hi,

Thank you very much for responding, I really appreciate it.

It's taken me months to work out how to operate, and correctly set up, ISTA-D and INPA, as I am somewhat of a noob to all of this. As such, I was wondering whether you could provide me with a method of accessing the BDM Software, and explain to me how it works, please? I'd greatly appreciate it, as I seem to be at a lost end at the moment.

    Kind regards,
    saturnrings
