Turbo, Supercharger, or Procharger for e90?

So I have a 2011 328xi, inline 6, which runs great, but not quite the power I'd like. The factory warranty ran out so that's not an issue for me. Does anyone have any tips for modding these newer models? And I'm not putting junk in my car, I'm probably going Turbonetics or something comparable. *You get what you pay for!

Sorry, but the best option is to sell and buy a 335.. 😉

Lol my hubby said the same thing when I got this car. If the 335 I had my eye on would've had 4 doors for the kids, I would have taken it home!

Maybe look at the Borg Warner EFR series. They have been a hit, living up to the hype. Personally I like precision, but those EFR's are nice. Maybe a 8374 will make you happy ?
Not sure if there is any kits available, but if you can figure out the tuning aspect of it, you can buy a welder, porta band saw and do it yourself.

No turbo kits for that motor. Might find a supercharger kit at AA or ESS or VFE but I would put that money towards a 335i. A 335i with $500 JB4 tune would outperform the 328i with supercharger kit.

Finding someone to tune it will likely be your biggest obstacle.

I agree, there's maybe one or two reputable shops in my area that would do it. I have a family friend that builds drag cars but even he says he hates working with euros & imports. I wish he'd reconsider tho cause his car runs low 4's on an 1/8th mile.

It would cost way more to make a 328xi fast than it would to sell it and buy a car that is faster to start with. My recommendation is to sell the 328 and buy something else

Best bet would be find a healthy 335i or 335xi, even on stock turbos with upgrades they perform very strong.

Katie, have you found anything that interests you relative to your upgrade path? I'm a little surprised by all of the "sell it and buy a 335 comments." I don't know that you can actually sell your car and get into a 335 that is in as good or better condition than your car for less than $5k. Besides, it isn't just all about straight line speed. I believe it's more about making your car more your own. Personally, I like the behavior of a supercharged engine better than that of a turbo charged engine. Supercharger systems can be much simpler too.

In any case, I'd much prefer to drive a sleeper 328 than a 335 anyway. I recently got a 325i E90 and am on the road to whipping it into shape. The only things i have left to do are the spark plugs and eccentric shaft sensor, which are getting done this weekend. I've also been considering the possible upgrade paths.

I've considered intake and exhaust. DME tuning. Upgrading to a 3 stage manifold. All of those things combined would cost about as much as a supercharger kit and the net reward would be much less than a supercharger would give. What I've been looking at is the kit from ESS Tuning. At $4600, it seems like just what I want.

Have you run across this kit? Have you learned anything about it? Good or bad. I'm gonna keep track of your thread. I'm interested to see where you wind up.
