Realoem lists the rubber coupling between the upper shaft and the lower shaft as a 'universal joint'. It seems mine is worn/soft, as there is a bit of play in the wheel, and I can find no issues with all the steering parts under the car. Has anyone replaced this universal joint/coupler? IF so, any suggestions on the easiest procedure if you were doing it again??
Thanks for any and all suggestions.

I haven't, but I have a brand new one that I bought but didn't need
want to sell it? Price shipped to zip 19382. Also, PayPal account name (via PM if you wish), so I can pay, assuming it is attractive. ECS is about $24, I think.

I replaced the donut on mine. Straightforward job,it's just a bit tricky lining up the bolts without pushing out the metal sleeves in the donut. Only difficult because access is tight.
Jeff,
Thanks - do ALL the panels between the bottom of the dash and the front of the driver's footwell need to come off??

Can't remember exactly but I don't think so. Pretty sure I got at it by just removing the plastic covers around the top of the steering column. The donut isn't far down.
Mine was like chewing gum when I replaced it. Certainly made a difference but if you have a problem elsewhere such as steering box or control arms it won't help much!!
